Frank A. James III, D.Phil. (1993) in History, Oxford University & Ph.D. (2000) in Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary, is President of Historical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary/Orlando. He has published extensively on the Reformation, including Peter Martyr Vermigli and Predestination (1998).
'Frank James's collection of essays on Peter Martyr Vermigli
(1499-1562) places the thought of the Italian reformer within the
plurality of European reformations. It provides a helpful
understanding of Martyr vis-à-vis Protestant and Catholic reform,
as well as more general movements such as humanism, scholasticism,
and canon law revision...Overall, the collection nicely documents a
transition in Martyr scholarship...a welcome addition to a body of
literature that recognizes theological diversity and ecumenical
nuances within sixteenth-century reform.'
Jeffrey Mallinson, Renaissance Quarterly, 2005.
