"The Vampire Tarot" ties the tales and mythic figures associated with the vampire legend to the equally iconographic figures and forms of the tarot. This deck is a beautifully rendered, fully realized tarot, capable of providing a clear reading to those that use it. But beyond that, it explores the history of the vampire starting with Bram Stoker's classic 1897 novel, "Dracula", as well as those writings that inspired Stoker and the vampire lore that derived from it. Stoker and his most famous work were both closely tied to the classic Rider-Waite-Coleman tarot. Now, author-illustrator Robert M. Place brings these two mythic traditions together in this soon-to-be classic tarot. Included is a four-color, fully illustrated seventy-eight card deck, and a extensively researched book that guides the reader through the subtleties and parallels within "The Vampire Tarot", providing a guide for getting the most out of reading. Sure to delight not only tarot devotees but the general fan of the vampire mythos as well.

This is a fantastic Tarot set for vampire and Dracula lovers. There are a few vampire-themed decks out there, but arguably none as well thought out as this. The companion book is devoted to the history and philosophy of the Tarot, as well as the legend of the vampire in art and literature. The only things I didn't like were the square corners Apart from that complaint, this set is fantastic.
This is a fantastic set for vampire and Dracula lovers. If you've never used tarot before, you might want to familiarize yourself with another deck first (try the ever popular Rider Waite deck) to get the most out of it... but once this deck bites you, you may become an incurable tarot enthusiast. There are a few vampire-themed decks out there, but arguably none as well thought out as this. The accompanying book is very comprehensive and will teach you about both tarot and vampire mythology. The cardstock is thick, but the corners are aquare which means they easily get damaged. Apart from that complaint, this set is fantastic.
There are several Vampire decks out there, but this one was really thought out as a Tarot deck. The theme is not offered just because it might be a popular genre, he has really researched the mythology (which you can read about in the book), then narrowed it to Vampires in literature (Dracula mainly) and speaks about how he arrived at the tarot deck itself. The 227 page book is devoted to the history and philosophy of the Tarot, as well as the legend of the vampire in art and literature. There is a chapter devoted to the Majors, and a chapter focusing on the Minors. I like the re-naming of the suits, which Place calls the "tools of the vampire hunter". They give some interesting nuances to the traditional card meanings. The only thing I didn't like personally was the square corners, but these can be rounded with a corner cutter.
