This deck has a quiet, calm presence. It's in the Marseille tradition (keep in mind that it has non-scenic "pips"), but artistically it is more like the Swiss 1JJ or the Soprafino with its fine engravings. It was originally published in 1810, so it's not exactly "ancient", but it has that lovely old-world feel. It's perhaps a little sparse, but it allows some "breathing room".
