The best-selling Medieval Scapini Tarot Deck receives thoughtful commentary from Ronald Decker. The author guides the reader through the history of tarot while reflecting upon fifteenth century Italy and the wonderful--and sometimes humorous--artwork that comprises this lavish deck. Luigi Scapini created a deck that was rich in style and historical attributes, and here is a companion text worthy of partnership with his deck.

This book is very readable and will increase most people’s understanding of different tarot systems. Among the things discussed in this book are Levi’s theories, Kaballah, Golden Dawn, Alchemy, Planetary Correspondences, Eteilla’s meanings, Papus, Tarot de Marseille, Waite/Smith. It has black and white illustrations of the cards in the Medieval Scapini Tarot and goes into the differences between the meanings used by Waite, the Golden Dawn, Eteilla, etc. It will also increase your appreciation for the Medieval Scapini deck, which is personally why I bought the book. I find the artwork too busy and confusing, but this book is helping it to grow on me.
