I hadn't seen this book reviewed anywhere, but I do like the author's blog and linen so thought I'd give it a try. Ooooo I'm so glad I did! The projects use patchwork in a particularly Japanese (Zakka) way, combining it with linen to make really simple, stylish projects. I'd say I'm keen to do about 3/4 of the projects and desperate to about 1/2 of them - not a bad hit rate I'd say. I'm particularly keen on trying the travel sewing kit (I love the little pincushion in the middle), cosmetics bag and the button calendar is genius. There is also a gorgeous little lamb softie which was a total surprise for me when I turned the page, I totally did not expect to find toys in this book! There is also a great fold-up shopping bag that's very similar to envirosax in concept. I love the idea of a bag in natural fabrics at a fraction of the price of buying one.
If you are a beginner sewer, like myself, you will enjoy making any of the 21 gorgeous projects in this book! The fabric covered box and pencil case are my favorite projects so far and I cannot wait to try my hand at the cute shoulder bag... I love this book and highly recommend it to anyone wanted to make cute everyday items, zakka style - which is all the rage right now!
