About the Author

Ray Kerkhove (PhD, University of Qld) is a professional historian whose main area of interest is the history and culture of Indigenous southern Queensland. For over 30 years he has worked with Aboriginal families, individuals and organisations, supporting their historical and cultural projects. In that capacity, he co-founded ICP Aust Inc, which in 2011 won the National Trust's Governor's Gold Award for promoting Indigenous heritage. Ray's interest in Brisbane campsites began in 1985, assisting Uncle Bob Weatherall of FAIRA with researching the Aboriginal history of Musgrave Park. In recent years, he has written and presented over a dozen reports and peer-reviewed papers on aspects of Indigenous history and culture. His current book is based on over 4 years' research into local archives and libraries, and extensive visits to most sites.

Reviews

We hope that this book will give the general public a better feel for the rich Indigenous heritage of Brisbane and the lively and varied history of Turrbal places that undergird that heritage. Maroochy Barambah, Songwoman and Lawwoman, Brisbane
