David Crouch has been Professor of Medieval History at the University of Hull since 2000. He was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 2014. He is co-editor of the three-volume History of William Marshal (2003-7), and author of William Marshal (1990), King Stephen (2000), Tournament (2000), The Birth of Nobility (2005) and The English Aristocracy, 1070-1272 (2013). The third edition of William Marshal is to be published in 2016.
