Oh, how I love this book! I am halfway through her 12 week program and look forward to each week's guidance and exercises. We use creativity to manifest everything in our life, not just art. So, I am finding her tools to unblock creativity helpful in all areas of my life. I am a writer and my writing, thoughts, and creativity have been flowing in huge amounts since I started this book. The most important tool she has us use is "the morning pages" where we are required to write 3 pages of anything and everything. The purpose is to get to the other side of all the junk, critic voices, monkey mind, and rubbish that rumbles around our heads to the good stuff. And, it works! I am devoted to my morning pages, especially on the days they are tough, because they work! What a delight Julia and her program are. I highly recommend.

This is a great resource for anyone who wants to tap into their creativity, not just artists, anyone who wants to be more creative. Julia Cameron has lots of tips to get you started, so whether you want to do the full 12 weeks or just do a few activities, it is a book that you will want to refer back to.

This is such a great book, not just for artists but really any dimension in your life. This 12 week course was so invaluable for me as a mother when you sometimes lose your way. Its about doing things for yourself and discovering your inner you - in a very non self-helpy king of way.

It helped me to feed my soul, and feel the calm and peace that had been missing.

This is a great book and it is far from just relevant for ‘artists.’ In many ways it breaks downs the barriers which have defined what are artist actually is and what art is all about. There is no preciousness here about needing art to be a certain way and because of this the information helps to realize that there is creative ‘block’ only the reluctance to follow our natural abundance of creativity which is in fact everywhere. A great reader for all.

This book is THE creativity bible. Whether you follow the 12-week programme or just dip in for ideas, you will find yourself returning to this book again and again. Cameron is warm, wise and encouraging about creativity. She veers slightly into the 'schmaltzy' way of things (for the NZ sensibility) but if you can overlook the slight syrupy touch in the writing you will gain a lot of insight and inspiration from this book. Suitable for both established artists/writers AND beginners, Cameron's techniques will set you up for a lifetime of creativity.
