Leslie Patricelli made her board-book debut with the winsome Big Little, Quiet Loud, and Yummy Yucky. "I call Binkyand its companion book Blankie 'the attachment series,'" she says. "During our years of early child-rearing, my husband and I have spent countless frantic hours looking for Binky. Usually the search is tense, as it typically begins when our toddler wants her binky NOW! I found myself thinking how funny it must look to our kids to see us on our hands and knees, digging around the house — and I began to sketch my baby character looking for his own binky.
The message: Even the smallest comforts have the power to make the
very young feel safe and secure.
