Kent T. Dollar is associate professor of history at Tennessee Tech University, USA and is the author of Soldiers of the Cross: Confederate Soldier-Christians and the Impact of War on Their Faith.

Larry H. Whiteaker and W. Calvin Dickinson are professors emeriti of history at Tennessee Tech University, USA. Whiteaker and Dickinson have authored, or coauthored, several books, including The Individual and Society in America and Soldiers, Spies & Spartans: Civil War Stories from Tennessee, respectively. All three scholars collaborated on the companion volume to Border Wars, Sister States, Enemy States: The Civil War in Kentucky and Tennessee, which examined the political, social, and economic aspects of the war.
