U. M. Hiram was born and raised in New York until her early teenage years. Her family relocated to South Carolina where she graduated from high school. The love of writing has always been present in her life and that passion led her to become a published author. Her first published work was entitled "Fast Lane Poetry" (April 2011) and is a poetry book based on various events, industry figures and tracks throughout the motorsports industry specifically NASCAR. Additionally, she had a poem entitled "My Symbol" included in the compilation book Collected Whispers by The International Library of Poetry (2008). She currently serves as an Associate Editor, Contributor and Media Representative for Skirts and Scuffs. Additionally, she is a contributing writer for Racer's Reunion and provides content writing about various subject matters on HubPages. A retired military veteran, having served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, who enjoys hobbies such as traveling, reading, singing and volunteering. She currently resides in the "Sunflower State" of Kansas.
