A Professor in the Department of Music, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts, University of Delhi, Dr. Suneera Kasliwal has combined her performance career with academics and research in music. Born and brought up in Jaipur, she had her early training in Music under Dr. Sharda Mishra at Jaipur. Later, she became a disciple ofLate Pt. Lal Mani Mishra, a famous Vichitra Veena player and a renowned musicologist at Banaras Hindu University and earned a Gold medal in Master of Music (M.Mus.) and prestigious Omkar Nath Thakur Puraskar. She then, completed her Doctoral Programmeunder the guidance of Dr. K C Gangrade and also got the privilege to learn under Dr. R D Chakravorty. She was the recipient of Sur Mani Award as well as the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of UGC. From late eighties, she is learning under a renowned artist of Delhi, Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra (Maihar Gharana), the senior most disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar. She has been conferred upon withSadhana Prashasthi Award by Akhil Bhartiya Jain Mahila Sammelan, in Nov.2005. Besides this, she is a regular artist of AIRand Doordarshan.
