Ryszard Kapuscinski was born in 1932 in Pinsk, a city that was
formerly located in the Kresy Wscodnie (Eastern Borderlands) of the
Second Polish Republic and now belongs to Belarus. He was Poland's
leading journalist. He died in January 2007.
