When AJ Rochester is singled out as the ideal candidate for a television show on obesity, she is at first appalled and then resolved. Enough is enough. She vows to lose 40 kilos - not because she yearns to become a pretzel, but so she can keep up with her little boy and turn her life around at last. But after years of trying and failing, AJ knows she needs a miracle to drop eight dress sizes so she volunteers to be a human guinea pig and record her weekly progress in front of a camera for a television program on body image. In CONFESSIONS AJ shares her incredible journey, from her first close encounters with a nutritionist, personal trainer and psychologist to overcoming an early cataclysmic fall off the wagon - waking up in hospital with a broken leg after downing her first cocktail in weeks on an empty stomach - and the triumph of shedding that first kilo. The result is a funny, insightful and inspiring account of a woman who lost more than half her body weight without losing her sense of humour - and discovered a whole new life.

About the Author

Diarist of the bestselling CONFESSIONS OF A REFORMED DIETER, author of children s book BLUBBERGUTS and mother to Kai, 5, AJ lives in Sydney. She runs her own weight loss support group. The Healthy Body Club ( and speaks at many events, festivals and seminars on achieving your goals. She also performs corporate comedy, sings jazz and writes poetry.

Substituting the phrase "alfalfa zone" for the word "diet," Rochester shares her sense of humor and lifelong struggle with dieting by detailing her highs and lows and presenting tips, low-fat recipes, and reasons for losing weight. An Australian citizen, writer, comedian, singer, and single mother, the author offers one overriding message: the key to diet success is slow and steady weight loss combined with acceptance of a lifestyle based upon exercise and low-calorie, low-fat foods with reasonable portion sizes. Although British English abounds, Rochester's humorous delivery puts the listener at ease with her slight accent. Although professionally produced, the review copy had several bad spots resulting in echoing and skipping of small sections of two discs. Entertaining as autobiography, this self-help title also is informational and practical. Purchase where needed.-Laurie Selwyn, Grayson Cty. This was a great escapist read and very enjoyable. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great read as this was one of my favourite books of the year.
Great for anyone who is currently on a diet as this book provides the inspiration to keep going.

This is just brilliant and extremely well written. Those who have watched the recent series of Australia's Biggest Loser will know AJ Rochester was the host. Good to see she is a woman of normal proportions who looks great and has achieved so much. This book is really witty, but at the same time is inspirational. Thoroughly enjoyable. There is a sequel for fans.

This book has been extremely popular. It is very funny (she comes out with all those classic Aussie humorous sayings) but it is also very personal and outlines all the issues that one has to deal with in order to lose weight - it's not just another diet book. I really recommend this one - it will have you crying one minute and the next you will be laughing hard.

This book is hilarious! So well written and inspirational for anyone out there who is struggling with losing weight. This author has really hit the nail on the head combining a serious subject with humour. I couldn't put it down.
