Garyth Nair, M.A. Garyth Nair, M.A. has been teaching and researching the human singing voice for over 25 years. He is Professor of Music at Drew University in Madison, N.J. where he conducts the Chorale and the Orchestra and is Director of Vocal Activities. Early in life, he chose to pursue music rather than his other love, biology. His research in voice now enables him to combine both loves in the pursuit of better vocal pedagogy techniques. In addition to his work at Drew University, Mr. Nair is well known as the conductor of one of New Jersey's premiere choruses, the Summit Chorale. He is now in his 34th season as the conductor of this renowned regional institution. Prof. Nair began his vocal and conducting studies at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, USA where he was appointed Assistant Conductor of the famed Westminster Choir - the first student in the College's history to be so honored. He later studied at Tanglewood with the late Sir Adrian Boult and completed an M.A. in Musicology at New York University. He is the former Conductor/Music Director of the Chamber Symphony of New Jersey and former Assistant Conductor of the New Jersey Symphony and the senior division of the Lakeland Youth Symphony.
Debra Greschner, Journal of Singing, (2008): "...A textbook that can be used by students throughout their entire undergraduate career... Applied teachers (especially those who direct voice majors or minor in a class setting) and voice pedagogy instructors are recommended to investigate this text for their students."
