MEGAN LAPP of Crafty Intentions has been creating crochet creatures from
her imagination since 2017 and has amassed thousands of fans who just can’t wait
for her next exciting design. She is the author of Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend.
"Crochet Impkins is another amazing amigurumi book by Megan Lapp!
With her stitching, she takes us once again, on a fantastical
journey to other worlds... While Crochet Impkins might not teach
you how to crochet, it will teach you how to create your own
amigurumi creature - and how to make each one unique! I mean it
when I say I don't think you could run out of possibilities here.
Fortunately, Megan takes us through the steps quickly and easily,
with a quick intro and a fabulous planning sheet. (Break out the
scanner, you'll want to make copies!) Using this sheet, you can
start paging through and making your choices. There are 4 basic
body styles to choose from: two sitting, and two standing. Pick one
of two arm styles, and one of the four belly options, and you're in
business! After that, we start at the top - there are 4 antenna
styles, 11 ears options, 6 face styles, 21 different hats and
hairstyles, 6 types of horns and antlers... You get the idea!
Scales, tails, wings, outfits, and accessories all add to the fun.
Like a deck of cards, you can mix and match these forever and never
make the same amigurumi twice! Add in all the color options, safety
eyes, and yarn weights, and wow! Of course, Crochet Impkins is
chock full of super cute examples of these combos - and each
picture includes a circle with the details you need to make one
just like it. There are so many "stitchlings" here to get you
started! All the projects pictured are made with worsted weight
yarn and a US-G, 4mm crochet book. Megan has a few suggestions,
including Red Heart Super Saver. But I think these designs would be
just as amazing in a thread - or jumbo yarn! If you or someone you
love is into fantasy creatures, both Crochet Impkins and Crochet
Creatures of Myth and Legend are must-haves for your crochet
bookshelf!"-- "MooglyBlog.com"
With Lapp's (Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend) hands-on,
creative title, crocheters can enter the magical world of Impkins,
introduced in the alternative-universe game Loomian Legacy: Veils
of Shadow. This book offers a descriptive table of contents, which
can be used as a great and quick reference later. It provides
helpful tools--a worksheet to copy and reuse, for example--that
crocheters can utilize to determine what their project will look
like. There are numerous options to choose from: body styles,
tails, horns, clothing, and more. Owing to the tighter and numerous
types of stitches used, this title is best for crocheters who have
already completed a few beginner projects. Basic knowledge of
sewing would also be useful for attaching pieces. The author
includes links to a few video tutorials for some of the more
intricate techniques. This highly imaginative book offers patterns
with a backstory for worldbuilding and cleverly sprinkled hints
about caring for the new crocheted critters. VERDICT Crocheters
will truly delight in picking features for their own creations of
Impkins.--Elizabeth Chandler Publishers Note: Megan Lapp's Impkins
are a wholly original creation, predating those of Loomian Legacy--
