Forced to his knees in agony whenever he speaks the truth, Gideon can recognize any lie--until he captures Scarlet, a demon-possessed immortal who claims to be his long-lost wife. He doesn't remember the beautiful female, much less wedding--or bedding--her. But he wants to...almost as much as he wants her.

But Scarlet is keeper of Nightmares, too dangerous to roam free. A future with her might mean ultimate ruin. Especially as Gideon's enemies draw closer--and the truth threatens to destroy all he's come to love....

While I always expect Gena Showalter to be good, this story about Gideon and Scarlett went in places I didn't expect and it was great. The story itself is captivating and the well developed characters again come to life. Getting to know Scarlett is wonderful, she's flawed but definately likeable. the development with the demons was definately unexpected. All in all a well written, well developed story that made me forget to go to bed.

This is a very good book. I love it cos it has soooo much drama n lies that has to be peeled away from one layer to another. Lies abound the pages and not only from gideon's lie-laden speech. There is also a rescue mission for Aeron's transformed demon which also spawn the next book, the darkest secret. But you really have to read book in series to truly get the storyline.

Loved it loved it loved it........I love the double speak and I loved the fact that Gideon cant pick up a lie off Scarlett. This book is yet another awesome continuation of the series. It is not a stand alone it does have to be read as part of the series. There is a lot of references to all the other characters from previous books. Highly recommend this book as well as the whole series. I tell you if a huge beautiful man with a butterfly tattoo comes near me.......ohhhh I will grab on with 2 hands. Even it does mean messing with Gods, the Devil, Demons and very moody disturbed men.

Another of the Lords of the Underworld and the 5th in ther series. Gideon is the keeper of the demon lies and it is a puzzle at times to unravel the story as he talks opposite to what he means. So can be distracting. I enjoyed the book as it also gives tells of the other loeds and whats happening in their lives. Looking forward to the next book in the series, especially finding the rest of the artifacts..

One of the many supernatural novels in the world consisting of demonic immortals, love and lies. When scarlet is introduced into the story and gideons world is turned upside down he must choose between this mysterious woman or a safe future. A pretty good read that i really got into.

Gideon, the keeper of the demon of Lies is frustrated and guilt ridden after meeting a pretty female named Scarlet (mentioned in the previous book)who claims to be his wife. The most frustrating thing for him is that he has no memory of her,yet sometimes catches glimpses of her in his mind.

Scarlet, the daughter of Rhea the Queen of The Titans and a mortal as well as the keeper of the demon of Nightmares, has been in mourning for the husband she thought she lost when he didn't return for her. When they meet again,he has no memory of her and was chasing some tail in some sleazy bar.

When Scarlet becomes a prisoner of The Lords,Gideon decides he need some answers and takes her outside the prison in order to get some answers out of her.Although he has every intention of throwing her back in prison once he was done Gideon finds himself attracted to his captive...

This an enjoyable read, although it was a little confusing to read the dialogue.Every thing Gideon says is a lie,so what he means is the opposite.
