Salvador Dali (1 May 1904 - 23 January 1989) was a Spanish surrealist artist renowned for his technical skill, precise draftsmanship, and the striking and bizarre images in his work. He is often regarded as the most famous artist of the 20th century. J.G. Ballard (15 November 1930 - 19 April 2009) was an English novelist, short story writer, satirist, and essayist known for provocative works of speculative fiction which explored the relations between human psychology, technology, sex, and mass media. His autobiographical novel "Empire Of The Sun" was filmed by Steven Spielberg.
"Dali's paintings reveal in the most powerful form the basic elements of the Surrealist imagination: a series of equations for dealing with the extraordinary transformations of our age. Let us salute this unique genius, who has counted for the first time the multiplication tables of obsession, psychopathology and possibility" -- J.G. Ballard
