Marrianne Miall is a graphic designer for a book publisher and is a
general all-round crafty creative. When she's not decorating her
home or growing her own fruit and vegetables in the garden, she is
taking on all kinds of craft projects from sewing curtains, to
making beaded jewellery and festive paper ornaments. She
particularly enjoys upcycling items around the home - her most
recent projects have included painting bedroom furniture,
re-covering a lampshade and creating a dartboard cabinet.
Marrianne is a published author of two books by Search Press:
Twenty to Make: Button Jewellery and My Handmade Wedding.
She lives in Kent with her husband and two cats.
From the first to last page this book is so easy to follow.
Great for children to grannies to make Christmas decorations to
last for years. All these projects can be made at minimum cost as
like me many will have a crafts box full of bits and bobs just
waiting for this book to inspire you.
*Amazon Customer Review*
This bright and approachable selection of Christmas crafts evokes
old-timey warmth updated with contemporary sensibilities.
Introductory notes discuss tools, reusing supplies, reducing
purchased items, using biodegradable adhesives, and foraging for
natural craft elements like pinecones; after which the crafts
unfold with simplicity and a reliance on neutral tones. Especially
useful to craft groups in libraries are several ideas that reuse
book pages, and many smaller decorations like hanging ornaments or
ribbon-wrapped candles that can be made from remnants left over
from past craft activities. Some projects, like Advent calendars
and wreaths, will be more time- and supply-intensive and may
require more purchased materials if the crafter desires a unified
look. But on the whole, projects like tiny gift boxes made from
last year's holiday cards, folded book trees, and fragrant dried
oranges offer low-cost, low-waste, joyful crafting options for new
or experienced crafters.
