As the name suggests, this book is reference book rather than a book which will take you through different projects from beginning to end. After a first chapter on how to get the most from your sewing machine, the book is then divided into two sections. The first is "Creative Techniques" with over 70 sections which include circular embroidery, basic shirring, elastic shirring, thread painting, mexican tucks, long fringe, short fringe and at least 10 types of applique. The second section is entitled "Indispensable techniques" and included such entries ad bias binding, bound buttonholes, different hem finishes, different types of zippers, etc. A very useful book to keep as a reference and handy 'how to' guide, or to inspire you to learn new techniques. Clearly illustrated in colour.
