ROBERT B. BRUCE is an Associate Professor of History at Sam Houston State University in Texas. He is an internationally recognized authority on the French Army. PHYLLIS G. JESTICE is chair of the History Department at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has contributed to several works on the history of warfare, including "Fighting Techniques of the Medieval World." FREDERICK C. SCHNEID is a Professor of History at High Point University in North Carolina. He is southern regional director of the Society for Military History.
