After spending almost a decade honing my writing skills in academia, I knew that I loved the act of composition. However, it wasn't until I was able to tutor tertiary creative writing as well as academic writing that I realised where my real love was. I finished the first draft of my first novel, a YA Christian supernatural in early 2012. But where to go from there? I had so many ideas that I wanted to try out that I didn't want to settle in just one genre. So in June 2012 I accepted the challenge to try to write 100 first drafts in 5 years, or a draft every 2 weeks. Since then I've had some successful drafts and some not so successful ones. I've had to take a break while I went back to work full time for a few months, and also put new drafts on hold while I polished and published old drafts. But overall, I've had an amazingly fun time. I know that I've broken one of the fundamental rules of building an audience; write in the same genre. However, as my drafts come to fruition, I can guarantee that each one will be a good read, even if it's different every time. So why not explore the world of 100 First Drafts?
