I was born Dorothy lone, April 24, 1929 in Milton Freewater, Oregon. Parents were Albert Monroe Wehr and Lucille Nonemaker Wehr. My writing poems started in Washington Grade School, Port Angeles, Washington, with my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Ina Olson, who said, I had a rare gift to write in "Blank Verse," and I should never stop writing. It was fun and with my awards in penmanship and art, I later added "Ornamental Writing" and made my own cards with verses and decorations. Today it is called Arts and Crafts with Calligraphy. To me it was a way to give gifts without money - something we had very little of after 1938.
