Laurie Ossman, Director of Museum Affairs at The Preservation Society of Newport County, spent every summer growing up on her grandfather's Charolais farm in West Virginia. As Director of Woodlawn and Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House in Alexandria, Virginia, she worked with restaurateur Michael Babin to reinvent the historic site as the headquarters of The Arcadia Center for Sustainable Agriculture (www.arcadiafood.org). She is the author of Great Houses of the South and co-author (with Heather Ewing) of Carrere and Hastings: The Masterworks, as well as dozens of articles and reviews in both popular magazines and scholarly journals. Debra A. McClane is a private consultant in architectural history and historic preservation. A native of Botetourt County, Virginia, she grew up on the family farm, where her father continues to raise Angus cattle. Walter Smalling is an architectural photographer whose work has appeared in Architecture, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record and many others. He is the photographer for more than fourteen books.
