Gr 6 Up-The pleasant timbre of Michael Page's expressive voice brings these Greek myths, retold by AnnTurnbull (Candlewick, 2010), to life. An introduction offers a helpful overview of what is contained on the CDs including the versions used, the lineage of the gods and goddesses, and the status of other mythological characters such as the Muses. Divided into general sections-"Earth, The Heavens and the Underworld," "Monsters and Heroes," and "Gods and Mortals"-various myths are masterfully presented, including Orpheus and Eurydice, The Minotaur, Bellerophon and the Winged Horse, Pan and Syrinx, King Midas and the Golden Touch, and Pandora. Mythological creatures and characters are briefly and clearly identified, a great help to listeners who may be unfamiliar with them and how they are related to one another.
