Emily Joy was born in the Outer Hebrides, Once qualified she spent eighteen months working in New Zealand, eight years as a GP in York and two years with Voluntary Service Overseas as first Medical Officer then Acting Medical Superintendant at Serabu Hospital. She now is a GP in the Highlands and is actively involved in raising funds for the hospital. She is currently working on The Accidental Optimist's Guide to Gluttony. Emily Joy is a pseudonym.
