A comprehensive introduction to the tools, equipment, fibers, and yarns used with four-shaft looms, this reference features patterns for 600 different weaves, including twill, zigzag, diamond, herringbone, and block. Color photographs and large-scale drawings allow weavers to closely examine the details, and the compact size and lay-flat binding is convenient for keeping near the loom. A handbook that is essential for all four-shaft weavers, this manual includes weaving basics, specialized projects organized by degree of difficulty, finishing techniques, resources, and a glossary of terms.

Reviews

"Highly recommended for public libraries and textile collections in academic institutions. If you can buy only one book on handweaving this year, this is the one." --"Library Journal," starred review

A very good book to own if you are a weaver as the patterns are endless
Very good service

This is a great reference book for weavers with a 4 shaft loom.
Though even those with more shafts will still appreciate it.
It has clear illustrations in colour. It won't replace Marguerite Davidson's book, but will be a welcome addition to the weaver's bookshelf.
Each structure is illustrated, and it will encourage weavers to experiment.
There are some chapters with general information as well.
The covered spiral binding keeps it flat and open on the page you are working.

An excellent reference for patterns for weaving. Easy to use and understand. Brilliant reference images.

I have only been weaving 12 months and have found this book to be excellent. It is easy to follow with useful hints and everything is well explained. Having the designs in colour makes them easy to see. Over 600 weaves - if you wove two items each week with a different pattern it would take you six years to work your way through the book. By then you would be so experienced you could experiment and improvise.

This book is a must for any handweaver and particularly if you aren't too good with mixing colours.
