Phillippa Vanstone studied Home Economics before turning her hand to the practical aspects of food and gaining formal catering qualifications at Westminster College. Her passion for desserts drove her to spend ten years working in London hotels and restaurants before joining a major U.K. supermarket as a development chef. During this time she visited America researching bakery products for the U.K. retail market. She later pursued a freelance career, writing for many food magazines, and she also lectured on food.
