Daliah Husu is a writer and a poet, whose work focuses on themes of love, self-acceptance, and spiritual and emotional fulfillment. Her lifelong struggle with gender identity, sexuality, social acceptance, and substance abuse has inspired her to share her remarkable story of survival. Born into poverty in the most dangerous slum of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Daliah faced many challenges from a young age. At the age of eight, she moved to New Jersey to live with her estranged mother, her brother, and her stepfather, and a new world of possibilities opened up to her in America. After transitioning from male to female in 2007, Daliah graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from Miami International University of Art and Design. In 2011, she began writing poetry as an emotional outlet. Soon, the inspiration to write her memoirs seeded itself. After going public with her story "I Am Woman: Surviving the Past, the Present, & the Future" in March 2016, Daliah has been featured in various magazines, newspapers, and online publications, such as Closer Magazine UK, The Daily Mirror UK, Seattle Gay News, The Florida Agenda, GAIA Women's Magazine, and others. She is a contributing writer for Transoutloud and Outnews Global UK.
