Stephen received a degree in education from the Melbourne College of Advanced Education, majoring in classroom and instrumental music. He has had many years of experience teaching in the music classroom and the instrumental studio, in both secondary and primary schools. Orff and Kodaly techniques are an integral part of his approach to teaching. Conducting a wide variety of bands, ensembles and choirs has led to developing skills in arranging and typesetting. This has led to working professionally as an arranger and typesetter for a number of clients. It has also led to composing pieces to suit the requirements of individual students, classes and ensembles. This book is the continuation of that process. In 2009 Stephen won the Primary School Teaching section of the Hume Council's Teaching Scholarships. The scholarship was used to attend the Orff Institute's Summer School in Salzburg. He is currently the music teacher at St Joseph's Primary School in Malvern, Victoria, Australia.
