The Life And Crimes Of Harry Lavender is a solid hard boiled thriller set in Sydney with a tough female detective attempting to discover why a schoolfriend's brother was possibly murdered and encountering only a web of intrigue and secrets. And the flamboyant Harry Lavendar. Its tough and well written.

This is a pretty good crime fiction book. I had to study it for year 11 english and found it quite enjoyable. Its a dectective novel with a twist. The dectective is female and quite capaple of holding herself which is unique as most dectective novels follow the hard boiled genre which this does but in a womens shoes which is excellent. 4 out of 5.
