Reviews

"The Maine House is a detailed anthology of the charm, centuries-old nostalgia and various characteristics of these classic homes, and a historical documentation of many Maine cottages."--Cottages & Bungalows

"The Maine House is a love letter to the region's unpretentious cabins with their time-worn sofas, creaky floorboards, and, of course, spectacular surroundings."--The Edit

"The Maine House [is] a visual journey through delightfully ramshackle saltwater farms and fish shacks, to stately stone houses and cozy coastal cottages."--New York Post

"A dreamy summer read to take to the family cottage."--House & Home

"A new book celebrates the knotty-pine, windows-thrown-open-to-the-breeze beauty of archetypal Maine houses. . . . The Maine House [shows] us the dignity, and aching beauty, in preserving Maine's quirky architectural past."--Maine Homes by Down East

"A new design book reveals the Pine Tree State's most quintessential homes. . . .The Maine House is filled with homes whose decoration, from slamming screen doors to unfinished walls and bric-a-brac kitchens, are as quirky as they are charming. As the book reveals, it's the details--bookcases crammed with Stephen King thrillers, doors fronted by curtains, and a dose of practical magic--that get to the essence of what a home in Maine is all about."--Elle Decor

"Buy the book. Feast on Vacationland style in the newly released The Maine House."--Coastal Living

"Photographer Maura McEvoy and Art Director Basha Burwell spent years traveling through Maine in search of homes that capture the unique spirit of the state. Marked by ingenuity, originality, and functionality, each house is as quirky as it is charming."--House Beautiful

"The charmingly photographed book highlights the originality in the homes of Maine fishermen, textile designers, artists and other creative people. Old barns, pottery collections, knotty pine kitchens and patchwork quilts fill the pages, highlighting homes furnished over many decades."--The Washington Post
