Jeannean has been teaching in Medical Imaging at Arkansas State
University since 1991. In that time, she has served as interim
program director, Faculty Senate senator, Faculty Association
Secretary, Vice-President of the Arkansas Society of Radiologic
Technologists, and numerous committees for the college and
university. Additionally, she has been a recipient of the Arkansas
State University Board of Trustees Faculty Award for Teaching
Excellence and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists
(ASRT) Distinguished Author Award. She has numerus national
peer-reviewed journal publications and continuously provides
presentations at various local, state, and national forums.
Jeannean is co-author of Merrill's Atlas of Radiographic
Positioning and Procedures, an internationally renowned textbook in
medical imaging procedures. Her other scholarly activities focus on
providing electronic instructional tools for medical imaging
educators Dr. Curtis has published several articles in journals,
contributed to books, edited and reviewed educational books and
products, and developed new products. She is the current author of
international radiologic sciences education textbooks. Dr. Curtis
has served in offices from secretary to president in her state
affiliate and is still active in serving members and students. She
holds several memberships with professional organizations and
volunteers at national conferences for student competitions and
hosting CE lectures for technologists and educators.
Before entering academia, she worked as a radiologic technologist
for various healthcare organizations. She continues to visit local
clinical sites with current undergraduate students to stay current
in the practice field.
Dr. Curtis research interest is emergency preparedness and disaster
response and serves on several college committees. She is the
current university liaison for La Region 7 Hospital Preparedness
Healthcare Coalition.
