When Mr Archimedes takes a bath with three of his friends, Kangaroo, Wombat and Goat, the water always overflows and makes a mess. Mr Archimedes is determined to find the culprit. Using a measure and taking turns getting out, they finally discover who it is. Early science made fascinating with the use of animal characters, comical text and colourful illustrations.

My youngest siblings enjoyed me reading this book to them when they were young without knowing the significance of the history it is based on. It is about a man having a bath with several animal friends. Whenever they are all in the bath it over flows. Blaming one creature at a time they are, one by one, banished from the bath to see who is responsible for making the water level rise. Of course, Mr Archimedes discovers that placing any solid object in water results in a rise in the water level leading to a bathtime of celebration.

A great way to introduce associated mathematical and science concepts such as volume, density (whether and object floats or sinks), design for making a object float and so forth. A great book for the early primary aged child.

A rather strange story this one. Mr Archimedes likes to take a bath, with a goat and a kangaroo and a wombat (yes, you read that right). The illustrations are okay, but might throw young kids is the explanation of the water rising and falling and the bath overflowing. An easy enough concept but it isn't done very clearly and makes for a slightly confusing story. Not entirely successful.
