An exuberant celebration of a wonderful grandpa - and all grandpas everywhere! The grandpa in this book is truly brilliant. He builds fantastic sandcastles, he makes wonderful flower arrangements, and he's very, very, very patient. He's got an amazing bike, he's a terrific dancer and he knows all about first aid ... in fact there's very little this astounding grandpa can't do. The book ends, "It's great to have a grandpa like mine. He's amazing!" And no one can argue with that!

Reviews

PreS-K-- A fun-filled, happy picture book that would fit in well with any preschool or playgroup storytime. Butterworth's pictures show a versatile grandpa that anyone would love to have. His skills range from riding a motorcycle, building fantastic sand castles, and driving amusement park bumper cars to flower arranging. He even lets his two grandchildren have hose fights in the summer. Distinct pictures with lots of white space surrounding them make this a nice addition to a Father's Day or Grandparent's Day program. --Janet M. Bair, Trumbull Library, CT

Four paper-over-board books by Nick Butterworth extol the virtues of various family members in greeting-card fashion: My Mom Is Excellent; My Grandma Is Wonderful; My Dad Is Awesome; and My Grandpa Is Amazing. Among Mom's talents, "She can balance on a tightrope" (the comical drawing shows her walking the clothesline) while Dad, "strong as a gorilla," bends over as a multicultural cast of children (plus a dog) piles onto his back.
