About the Author

Joshua Koscinski is a 13 year-old who loves social media. He is a Minecraft fan and has two dogs, Peaches and Molly. He is homeschooled due to extreme fatigue, food allergies, and medical needs. He runs website and https: // Pediatric occupational therapist, Cara Koscinski, MOT, OTR/L, is Joshua's mother and author of The Pocket Occupational Therapist Book Series. Little did Cara know that her passion would serve her so well in both her professional and personal life. Cara practiced OT, primarily serving an adult population, for years. It wasn't until she had two special needs kids of her own that she made the switch to pediatric OT. Cara's son is on the autism spectrum and has sensory processing disorder. Her younger son has mitochondrial disease, a severe case of Eosinophilic Esophagitis and uses a feeding tube for nourishment. At times, he requires a wheelchair for mobility. In addition to her longstanding work as a private practice OT, Cara is a successful entrepreneur, having started her own company, Route2Greatness in 2005. It was created to fill a need Cara's own son had -- a fun and creative way to help with sound sensitivity related to sensory processing. The CDs, called Sound-Eaze and School-Eaze are available at http: //, Amazon, or through special needs product retailers. The first book, The Parent's Guide to Occupational Therapy for autism and special needs, is an accessible overview, that explores how OT can help kids with special needs succeed in the home and community. Written in an easy-to-follow, Q&A format, the book discusses some of the most common issues parents face, including core muscle strength, feeding, fine motor skills, sensory sensitivities, transitions, and life skills. In her second book The Special Needs School Survival Guide, Cara focuses on how OT helps children with special needs be successful in educational settings. Written for parents, caregivers, educators and home schoolers, The Special Needs School Survival Guide provides answers to the most commonly asked educational questions and challenges, including Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Learning disabilities, ADHD, Individual Education Plans (IEP), 504 plans, Behavior, and Dysgraphia. Both books are available at http: // and at Cara provides OT consultations, trainings, and seminars as The Pocket Occupational Therapist across the US and UK.
