Sarah Branson first started conjuring stories of pirates when her family hopped a freighter to Australia when she was seven. She has since grown up, traveling the globe, raising a family, and working as a receptionist, retail clerk, writing tutor, and certified nurse midwife. She also taught science and history to middle school and high school students in the U.S., Brazil and Japan. Through these myriad experiences, she has developed a deep appreciation for people's strength and endurance and believes that badass women will inherit the earth. Sarah is still weaving pirate tales in her head and now, on paper, phone and computer, for your reading enjoyment. She draws on all of these experiences when creating stories about strong women and men finding adventure, love and their paths in worlds that are constantly changing. Sarah lives with her husband in Connecticut. For more information, please visit www.sarahbranson.com.
"Navigating the Storm is Book 2 of the Pirates of New Earth series,
and continues the story set in the 24th century, when pirate
nations and survival challenge Kat Wallace in different ways. [Kat
is] a determined female character who explores her identity and
values in a changing futuristic world. Kat's mission immerses
readers in a very different social and political milieu, yet the
emotional undercurrents of connections, betrayal, love, and
ambition remain strong pulls. Readers who enjoy a rollicking
adventure firmly rooted in family interactions will find that
Navigating the Storm comes steeped in a battle between love and
loyalty in which Kat reconsiders her ultimate goals. Readers of
alternate history will find the emotional depth and draw of
Navigating the Storm simply compelling."--Diane Donovan, Senior
Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
"This is an incredibly impactful, emotional, entertaining, funny,
heart-tugging book."-Martha Bullen, author and owner of Bullen
Publishing Services
"Navigating the Storm is not your typical pirate book. Rather, it
is a blend of science fiction with steampunk and cyberpunk
interlaced with realistic human emotions and experiences set in the
twenty-fourth century. Action is high paced and riveting. Kat
matures as the book progresses; hitting rock-bottom makes her
stronger and savvier, and puts her on firmer ground to face
whatever lies in the future."-Cindy Vallar, editor, Pirates &
Privateers
