Emily Yurcheshen is a singer/songwriter, music teacher and director of Peaceworks Communications, a mission promoting personal and planetary peace through music, creativity and communication. With a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from University of Oregon, she graduated Phi Betta Kappa. Emily went on to receive a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. As a child, Emily loved to sing and dance with her father but never imagined she would be a musician and published author until she was guided on a healing world odyssey that opened her to hear the songs and stories in her heart. She watched a cremation ceremony on the Ganges River in India, trekked the hills of Nepal, and moved to Portugal where she started hearing melodies and words that she jotted down in notebooks. During her European odyssey, she was also introduced to energy work and took workshops for two years learning about chakras. She also taught her first creativity workshop there. Ten teachers came to her house for twelve weeks to explore their creativity. Discovering she had a gift with creative unblocking. Emily furthered her energetic studies by becoming certified in Sound Healing in Spain a year later. Upon returning from her magical journey, she began teaching others to find the music within through various workshops including Speak and Sing Out, Finding Your Creative Voice, Funding Your Creative Dreams and Create and Communicate. Each one of these became a chapter in her Odyssey of Song book with playful and practical activities to heal and inspire people to create, communicate and make music. She received wonderful on-the-job training in music stores and schools and soon began making her living teaching and playing music. She has created two CDS of original music with her Odyssey group and performs these songs nationally and internationally. Emily combines her passion for music with her progressive educational background to create, perform and inspire. She has taught thousands of people to unblock their creativity, find their voice, play an instrument and write songs. She teaches classes and private lessons in singing, songwriting, guitar, piano and ukulele. Emily also is a travel writer and leads workshops and retreats worldwide on creativity.
