Got it recently and am working through the Anti-Austrian Attack
lines in Ch 6. Appreciate the fresh insights and analysis of the
old-school ...g6, ...c6, ...d5 ...h5 line... "This line is clearly
not for the swashbuckling Modern player who loves unclear, tactical
positions. Instead this line is designed for the strategic street
fighter, who is comfortable in closed positions." This modern/old
school defense was a favorite of Maryland, Washington DC players in
the late 1970s. A wonderful book with well excellent annotations on
the 66 games!--Michael Ciamarra, World Chess Federation FIDE
Trainer
Players from 1800-2300, who have a solid foundation having mastered
basic opening principles by answering 1.e4 with 1...e5, and who are
looking to branch out, will find The Modern Defence an excellent
first step.--John Donaldson, International master, International
Master
Perfect in every inch as all books published by Cyrus. You can find
here a complete repertoire book just read and effect and the
opening will come quickly. There is not only variants but comments
and perfectly selected games which would help understand positions.
That all smashes in to awesome choice for everybody. Well
done!--Jakob Owoc
