MALCOLM ANDREW has been Professor of English Language and Literature at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, since 1985. His publications include an edition of The Poems of the Pearl Manuscript, with Ronald Wakdron, 1978, a collection of essays on The Canterbury Tales, 1991, a volume of explanatory notes on The General Prologue for the Valorium Chaucer, 1993, and the revised version of A.C. Cawley's edition of Chaucer, 1996.
