In this sequel to The Perfect Waltz we meet again the twins Faith and Hope known to the ton as 'the virtue sisters'. As mirror twins and stunning beauties they are enjoying London society and freedom from the trauma of their early life. Each is sought after by many men of varying degrees of elligibilty but neither has commited herself. Back in the dark days with Grandfather each girl dreamt of a perfect man and a perfect setting - a gift from their mother- Hope dreamt of a dark night and a perfect waltz while music loving Faith dreamt of perfect music from the shadows. Hope keeps the final waltz of every ball free in case her perfect man should suddenly appear and never dances it with the same man twice. Sebastian Reyne has spent much of his life in mills, first as a child labourer and now as owner. He has reclaimed his younger sisters after years of searching but they don't trust him and he despairs of restoring his family. His thought is to marry a sensible woman who will not be easily shocked - duty not love or passion is his motto. What he comes up with is the Lady Elinore a small gray spinster with no bosoms and a passion for the reform work her mother started. Sebastian's only concern once he meets her is how soon he can propose and get back to running his vast usiness interests. That is until his eye's meet Hope's across a ballroom and his careful plans are in danger of being overset. With his childhood friend quietly drawing off Lady Elinore and Hope's chaperone trying to keep them apart, Sebastian and Hope are forced together as youngest sister Grace becomes fast friends with his sisters. Can any good come from this tangle? Could this man who waltzes so stiffly really be the man of Hope's dreams? And what of Faith, is she falling for the flashy but titled, wealthy and very talented musician Count Rimavska? Is their mothers promise to them about to become true? Thoroughly enjoyable, your heart is touched by Sebastian's struggle to find and remake his family, by Hope's passionate defence of joy and of how they begin to heal each other. You end up loving the irrepresible Giles - Sebastian's friend and even Lady Elinore comes alive. Well worth reading.
