Since the age of 12 Catherine's had a book on her heart. It has lived there growing and changing over the last 40 years. She has walked through countless obstacles, getting stuck in some of them for many years. Through her teens and into her 30's she battled drug abuse alcohol abuse and 2 failed marriages and many dysfunctional relationships in-between. She raised 4 kids along this journey - kids that had to grow up really fast! As she approached her 40's, something shifted and she knew it was time to change or die. She surrendered her life to Jesus, and that's when her life took on an entirely new and profound meaning! She walked through the doors of recovery and began the daunting journey of undoing all the wreckage in her life - some caused by others and some at her very own hands. Now at 51, she can say she is free! Free of substance abuse, bitterness and free to love herself and others. Catherine competes and has won multiple awards as a body builder, is an active realtor and business owner. She's committed to her continued recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery, and she owns a non-profit whose mission is bringing awareness to childhood sexual abuse. When she's not speaking, coaching, listing a house or working out, she's spending time with her best friend and husband, Adam, or one of her 6 kids or 7 grandkids!
"I can't stop thinking about Catherine Schiffer's book, Pieces of
Me. First, for the obvious reasons ... that no one should have to
endure a childhood of suffering in the magnitude she did. I found
myself in tears as I pictured that sweet little girl who faced
battle and survival. Second, and this is the most important ... she
not only survived, she went on to become one of the most successful
people in her field and a powerful influence in raising awareness
and creating a movement to stop the heartbreaking tragedy of child
abuse and addiction. Her book made me look back on my own childhood
as a blessing, and to not take it for granted. It also made me want
to honor my privileged childhood by helping others who didn't have
it so safe. It made me ask the questions, what can I do to change
this for other children? How can I help? Schiffer writes her book
so poignantly, and you can feel the child and hear her child's
voice as she details what she suffered and how she survived. She
writes openly and honestly about the struggle she has had with
addiction, and the triumphant times that show just how strong and
resilient she really is. I am sure this book will stay with me for
a long time ... not the tragedy, but the triumph of the author, who
she's become, and the lives she will change because she had the
courage to speak out."

"Catherine Schiffer is a beacon of hope! Her resilience is nothing
short of inspiring. This book and her story are proof of her
courageous heart. It is also proof of how the love of God can and
does transform lives. The message and words of this book will serve
to help heal the hearts of those who have experienced the pain of
abuse and violence. Catherine has walked through trials and has
overcome obstacles that cannot be imagined. She is a valiant
beautiful force and a light in this world. I would recommend this
book to anyone, whether they have experienced abuse or not; the
level of faith and love that pours out of Catherine's heart through
these pages needs to be shared!"

"Many live in denial about their past, suffer in the present and
miss the future God has planned for them. With courgageous strokes
of her pen, Catherine allows you to open up about your past
realizing only the enemy wins when our mind is locked in the prison
of trauma behind the bars of shame & guilt. Pieces of Me will
inspire anyone who has experienced trauma to look at seemingly
broken pieces as a beautiful mosaic in the hands of our
Father!"
