Author Donald G. Ruetz is a retired police captain, who served the Culver City Police Department in California for thirty-two years before retiring in 2003. He was married to Cynthia Ruetz for eleven years. Together, they had two sons, Justin and Jack. All three were killed in a light plane crash in Costa Rica on July 16, 2005. Raised in the Manhattan Beach area of California, Ruetz attended Loyola University of Los Angeles, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in English literature. He later received a masters of science degree in management from Redlands University. In addition to his two sons, the author has a daughter, Erica, and two granddaughters, Sophia and Ava, from a previous marriage. Project: Remember Me: A Father's Story of Tragedy Turned Into Triumph in Costa Rica is his first book.
