A vividly rendered, memorable collection of poetry. This rueful,
colorfully drawn collection of poetry aches with a yearning for
connection and often cuts straight to the heart (and other organs)
with sharp observations and dreamy musings about love, lust, and
the sometimes murky pools in between. Hult's writing is both
assured and playful, evident in such titles as "Five Dead Women"
and "Early AM Mysteries", and burns like a midnight candle, keeping
you warm company late into the night. -- David James Parr, Author
of Personal Training: Poetry & Exercise Tips
Charming Evocations of the World and Humanity. I found Render to be
an enjoyable, imaginative, and challenging collection of
observations by a poet highly sensitive to the surrounding world.
While many of the poems have stayed with me for their striking
images and phrasing, I was especially fond of "Lazy Magician in San
Francisco" for its evocation of the city and its forces. The
author's decision to divide the work into three sections-Admission,
Transmission, and Emission-helped me get into the spirit of the
volume as a whole. The book design is quite attractive as well,
with a charming cover and a typeface that is bold, large and easily
readable. I think Render is a worthy volume for every serious
reader of poetry. Another, please. -- Walter Idlewild, author of
Catherine Lescault
