Carol Dean Jones, a geriatric social worker, was born in Kentucky, USA and is currently living in the West Virginia foothills. She is the author of the popular Quilting Cozy series featuring Sarah Miller.
The Rescue Quilt is one about our animal friends and as life
continues to be good for Sarah and Charles they find themselves in
the midst of a mystery that involves their friend Sophie. I have
loved Sophie throughout this series, she is funny, unpredictable
and very very caring. Sophie has volunteered to drive abandoned and
unwanted animals to a shelter, where they will be looked after.
Sophie finds a dog, dirty and seemingly 'asking for help'. When she
follows the dog home she discovers a man lying in a pool of blood.
Of course with every one of these books there is no real violence,
so as we discover the story of how and why the man died it gets
very exciting if not a little sordid. With Charles's experience in
the law and her best friend Sarah, helping her keep sane, Sophie is
trying to keep it together as she finds herself a suspect. This
book is amazing. It highlights the plights of our animals and show
how the kindness of humans can make their lives better.
