About the Author

Since graduating from Oxford University and the Central School of Speech and Drama, Jessie Burton has published two novels; The Miniaturist (2014) and The Muse (2016), published in 38 languages. Both were Sunday Times No. 1 bestsellers, New York Times bestsellers and featured on BBC Radio 4's Book at Bedtime. As a non-fiction writer, Jessie has written essays for The Wall Street Journal, The Independent, Vogue, Elle, Red, Grazia, Lonely Planet Traveller and The Spectator. Thandie Newton is an English actress who has appeared in a number of British and American films and TV series, most notably as Maeve in HBO’s Westworld. She gained international recognition in the Merchant Ivory production of Jefferson in Paris as Sally Hemings, which led to her being cast in Jonathan Demme's Beloved, in which she played the title character alongside co-stars Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. Newton has been honoured with a BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actress in 2006 for her role in Crash and a Black Reel award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Westworld.
