Born in rural north Wales, his father Welsh, his mother from Luxembourg, Rhodri Jones grew up speaking Welsh, English and German. Having travelled the word and settled in Italy Jones has turned his attention - and his lens - to his country of origin after over twenty years of being away. In a series of arresting images, he captures a society undergoing rapid and massive changes. Both native and outsider, Jones has a unique perspective and a freshness of vision which make his work compelling and illuminating. Many of the images are taken in panaramic format and carefully arranged in diptychs and triptychs to produce a provocative commentary. The book accompanies a touring exhibition of the images, which begins at the National Library of Wales. "Return / Yn Ol" is published in a biligual English/Welsh edition. It includes a Foreword by Gwyneth Lewis, the National Poet of Wales.
