Reviews

Art critic and curator Robert Storr probes the creative genius and artistic achievements of 51 art world insiders in this illuminating collection of interviews.-- "Publishers Weekly"

It can be a bracing intellectual experience to listen in, when a top curator talks at length with an accomplished, committed artist. This heavy tome offers 51 such conversations, recorded over the past 35 years by Storr...--Susan Faust "The San Francisco Chronicle"

The interviews span generations, media, and different aesthetic and conceptual inclinations, providing insight into the thinking, methods, achievements, and trajectories of some of the most influential artists of our time...-- "The Paris Review"

While the conversations occasionally lean toward the academic, they are never dull or pedantic. The interviews wouldn't be as rich as they are if it weren't for Storr. Trained as an artist, he has the ability to engage intimately with his subjects in a way that feels like a dialogue between peers.--Francesca Pietropaolo "Shelf Awareness"
