About the Author

Dr. J.F.R. (Hans) Boddens Hosang is Deputy Director of Legal Affairs of the Netherlands Ministry of Defense and head of the international law section. He completed his Ph.D. in international law at the University of Amsterdam. Within the MoD, his responsibilities include legal advice in the areas of public international law, including international humanitarian law and human rights law, as well as national and international criminal law. He also teaches at the
University of Leiden, is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, and publishes regularly in the field of international law.
