The Seasoned Poets of the Blue Ridge are a group of seasoned poets who have met weekly for nineteen years to enjoy and study established and emerging poets, and to write poetry ranging from classical to free verse. Each poet writes with a bit of wit, whimsy, wonder, drama, nostalgia, or anger as varied topics inspire them. There are now seven active members making up the Seasoned Poets: Laurabeth Breeding, Karen Heggen, Elda Lepak, Elizabeth Martinez, Gwyneth Noble, Helen Palmer, and Beverly Russell. They have published ten poetry anthologies as a group, and several books as individuals. Although they write in the Blue Ridge of western North Carolina, they come from many areas of the United States and Canada with varying histories, stories, and points of view. They are known in the area for their lively poetry readings. Their tenth anthology, "Seasoned Poetry," exudes wit, sprinkled with wisdom as they reflect and meditate on the joy, mystery, and wonder of life's stages and evolving seasons.
